Sand and gravel aquifers (glaciated regions)
Pleistocene Series
LOCATION - Lat 44°39'11.14", long 92°41'50.66" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Goodhue County, MN, Hydrologic Unit 07040001,
REVISIONS HISTORY - All daily values (mean, median, maximum, and minimum) for elevation, GW, NAVD88 before 6 October 2016 were increased by 4.14 feet on 21 May 2018 to reflect a more accurate measurement of land surface elevation.
GROUNDWATER RECORDS
WELL CHARACTERISTICS - Depth 69.14 ft. Upper casing diameter 2.04 in; top of first opening 63.95 ft, bottom of last opening 68.75 ft. The hole for PI17 was drilled with an 8.25-inch-diameter power auger to a depth of 70.0 feet. The well was constructed of a 4.80-foot-long, 2.04-inch-diameter, flush-threaded, 10-slot PVC screen, attached to 63.95 feet of 2.04-inch-diameter, flush-threaded, PVC well casing. The casing stuck up 2.43 feet above land surface on 06 May 2014. The open interval of the well was 63.95 - 68.75 feet below land surface and the well is 69.14 feet deep.
DATUM - Land-surface datum is 728.71 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988. Measuring point: MP is casing, not protection post, 2.43 ft above land-surface datum, May 6, 2014 to present. The measuring point is the top of the 2-inch diameter PVC well casing (not protection post), marked with a black mark, which was 2.43 feet above land surface on 06 May 2014. Elevation of the measuring point is 727.00 plus-or-minus 0.5 feet above sea level, North American Vertical Datum of 1988, based on LiDAR data.
PERIOD OF RECORD -
Periodic water levels were recorded from 06 May 2014 to the present. Hourly water levels were recorded from 01 October 2014 at 16:00 CDT to the present, except during the following periods:
06 Oct. 2016 at 11:00-19:00 CDT: transducer did not record data for unknown reason.
18 Oct. 2017 at 15:00-20:00 CDT: transducer did not record data for unknown reason after site visit.
10 May 2018 at 15:00-19:00 CDT: transducer did not record data for unknown reason after site visit.
29 Oct. 2019 at 12:00-19:00 CDT: transducer did not record data for unknown reason after site visit.
GAGE - Continuous water level, water temperature, and battery voltage are measured with an OTT Orpheus Mini 0-4m pressure transducer. These data are recorded hourly by the same OTT Orpheus Mini pressure transducer, which has a data logger built into it. The data logger is housed inside of the 2-inch PVC well casing, which has an aluminum locking well cap on top of that. The gage is powered by 3 AA lithium batteries that are inside of the communications rod. Data is downloaded manually and no telemetry or phone line is wired into the gage.
COOPERATION - Well PI17 is operated by the U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the Prairie Island Indian Community. The monitoring well is part of a network of monitoring wells; used to collect water quality and water quantity data for the Prairie Island Indian Community.
