Location context and information
The water temperature recorded by the sensor at this site may not be representative of the temperature of the water being released by Prettyboy Dam, particularly during storm events. Overland runoff and tributary inflows between the gaging station and the dam can affect the temperature of the stream at the monitoring location. LOCATION.-- On left bank at downstream side of bridge on Falls Road, and 1.4 mi downstream from Prettyboy Reservoir. PERIOD OF RECORD.-- July 2000 to current year. GAGE.-- Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 349.61 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988. November 1982 to November 1990, nonrecording gage 100 ft downstream. REMARKS.-- Flow regulated by Prettyboy Reservoir 1.0 mi upstream, beginning April 10, 1933, for water supply of Baltimore City (usable capacity, 20,000,000,000 gal; dead storage, 1,080,000,000 gal). PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD (Water Quality).-- WATER TEMPERATURE: March 2011 to current year.
