Important information about this monitoring location

LOCATION.--On right, downstream wingwall of bridge on Glencoe Road at intersection of Upper Glencoe Road and Lower Glencoe Road in Glencoe, and 0.7 mi upstream from Piney Creek. PERIOD OF RECORD.--October 1977 to June 1980, December 1982 to current year. GAGE.--Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 244.06 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988. REMARKS.--Flow regulated by Prettyboy Reservoir, 12 miles upstream, beginning April 10, 1933, for water supply of Baltimore City (usable capacity, 20,000,000,000 gallons; dead storage, 1,080,000,000 gallons). PERIOD OF RECORD (Water Quality).-- October 2015 to October 2020. INSTRUMENTATION (Water Quality).-- Water quality monitor, October 2015 to October 2020. REMARKS (Water Quality).-- Turbidity values greater than 1,600 nephelometric turbidity units (NTU) exceed the instrument calibration range. Values are included in the record but are presumed to have lower precision. Turbidity values that were determined to be a result of debris on the sensor, a function of incident sun angle, or other phenomena that did not appear to be correlated to suspended-sediment concentration were removed by the hydrographer.
