> Site Information
LOCATION.--Lat 40°53'15", long 73°33'49" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Nassau County, NY, Hydrologic Unit 02030201, on right bank at Beaver Lake, 30 ft upstream from Feeks Lane (Cleft Road) Bridge in Mill Neck, and 1.5 mi southwest of Bayville.
DRAINAGE AREA.--8.58 mi².
PERIOD OF RECORD.--January 1937 to March 2000, May 2005 to September 2010, October 2013 to current year.
REVISIONS HISTORY.--WDR NY-09-2: Drainage area.
GAGE.--Water-stage recorder and steel sheet-piling control. Datum of gage is 6.49 ft above NGVD of 1929 and 5.41 ft above NAVD of 1988 (VERTCON).
REMARKS.--Slight regulation by ponds above station.
Water Years 2014-19: Records good except those for estimated daily discharges, which are poor.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD.--Maximum discharge, 137 ft³/s, Sept. 12, 1960, gage height, 1.60 ft; maximum gage height, 4.85 ft, Sept. 21, 1938, result of storm tide; minimum discharge, 0.09 ft³/s, Dec. 11, 1941, result of freeze up; minimum gage height, 0.13 ft, Sept. 28, 29, 2017, result of fish ladder.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD.--Maximum gage height, 4.82 ft, Oct. 29, 2012, from high-water mark, result of storm tide.
