This gage is monitored in cooperation with the South Florida Water Management District.

LOCATION.--Lat 27°21'52", long 81°03'07", in SW1/4 sec.5, T.36 S., R.33 E., Highlands County, Hydrologic Unit 03090101, on upstream side of bridge on U.S. Highway 98, 2 mi southwest of Basinger post office, Okeechobee County, and 10.5 mi downstream from Istokpoga Canal.

DRAINAGE AREA.--2709 mi².

PERIOD OF RECORD.--October 1948 to September 1951 (published as near Cornwell), October 1962 to September 1964, June 2008 to September 2011 (discontinued). Gage-height records collected at site 1,000 ft downstream April 1928 to Jauary 1931 are contained in reports or file of the Everglades Drainage District.

GAGE.--Water-stage recorder, acoustic velocity meter, and data-collection platform. Continuous sediment sampler is operated at site. Datum of gage is at NAVD of 1988. Prior to Oct. 1, 2009, datum of gage is NGVD of 1929 (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers bench mark). Prior to Oct. 1, 1962, staff gage at site 1,000 ft downstream at datum of 24.64 ft higher.

REMARKS.--Daily discharge published are those for Kissimmee River C-38 Canal.
