LOCATION.--Lat 48° 57'40", long 116° 33'20" (NAD27), in NE1/4 sec.26, T.65 N., R.2 W., Boundary County, Smith Falls quad., Hydrologic Unit 17010104, on right bank at U.S. Forest Service bridge, 1 mi south of Smith Creek Ranger Station, and 4 mi southwest of Porthill.
DRAINAGE AREA.--70 mi2, approximately.
PERIOD OF RECORD.--May 1928 to November 1960 (discontinued); no winter records 1928-30. Monthly discharge only for some periods, published in WSP 1316.
GAGE.--Water-stage recorder. Elevation of gage is 1,770 ft above NGVD of 1929, from topographic map. Prior to Apr. 20, 1929, staff gage at site 40 ft downstream at datum 0.98 ft lower. Apr. 20, 1929 to Sept. 30, 1956, water-stage recorder at present site at datum 1.69 ft higher.
REMARKS.--No regulation or diversion above station.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD.--Maximum discharge, 3,810 ft3/s June 23, 1955,
gage height, 9.34 ft, present datum, from rating curve extended above 1,600 ft3/s,
by logarithmic plotting; minimum daily discharge, 3 ft3/s Nov. 29, 30, 1952.
