USGS 13237500 SF PAYETTE RIVER NR GARDEN VALLEY ID

LOCATION.--Lat 44° 03'40", long 115° 55'10"(NAD27), in E1/2 NE1/4 sec.1, T.8 N., R.4 E., Boise County, Garden Valley quad., Hydrologic Unit 17050120, on right bank at Garden Falley ranger station, 300 ft upstream from Station Creek, 2.7 mi southeast of Garden Valley, and 5.9 mi upstream from Middle Fork.

DRAINAGE AREA.--779 mi2. Mean elevation, 6,400 ft.

PERIOD OF RECORD.--May 1921 to September 1960 (discontinued).

GAGE.--Water-stage recorder. Elevation of gage is 3,090 ft above NGVD of 1929, from river-profile map. Prior to Aug. 3, 1926, staff gage at datum 0.98 ft higher. Aug. 3, 1926 to Dec. 5, 1933, staff gage at present datum (1960).

REMARKS.--Small diversions above station. Since Nov. 2, 1930, flow partly regulated by Deadwood Reservoir (capacity, 160,400 acre-ft).

EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD.--Maximum discharge observed, 10,600 ft3/s May 26, 1928, gage height, 8.0 ft; minimum, 75 ft3/s Dec. 15, 1935, Jan. 26, 1936, gage height, 0.70 ft, from rating curve extended below 280 ft3/s; minimum daily, 196 ft3/s Dec. 10, 1944.

EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD.--Maximum discharge, 7,810 ft3/s Jan. 1, 1997, from indirect measurement, from floodmarks.
