NOTICE (10/03/2011) --As of October 1, 2011, continuous data collection at this well has been discontinued due to funding reductions from partner agencies. Although historic data will remain accessible, no new continuous data will be collected unless one or more new funding partners are found. Users who can contribute funding for the non-Federal share of costs to continue operation of this well should contact Steve Curtin of the USGS Maryland, Delaware, DC Water Science Center at (443-498-5539 securtin@usgs.gov).


LOCATION.--Lat 39°22'58.6", long 77°05'23.4", referenced to North American Datum of 1927,
   Carroll County, MD, Hydrologic Unit 02060003, 2.3 mi northwest of Woodbine, at Gillis Falls Park
AQUIFER.--Gillis Group of Ordovician age. Aquifer code: 300GLLS.
WELL CHARACTERISTICS.--Drilled, observation, water-table well, depth 248 ft; casing diameter 6 in.,
   top of first opening 21 ft, bottom of last opening 248 ft; open hole.
DATUM.--Elevation of land surface is 550 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929.
   Measuring Point: Top of recorder shelter platform  2.36 ft above land surface.
REMARKS.--Maryland Groundwater-Level Monitoring Network observation well.
   U.S. Geological Survey satellite data-collection platform at well.
PERIOD OF RECORD.--March 1980 to current year.
COOPERATION.--Funding for the operation of this station is provided by the Maryland Department of the
   Environment (MDE), the Maryland Geological Survey, and the U. S. Geological Survey.
This station managed by the MD-DE-DC Water Science Center Baltimore office.
