LOCATION - Lat 38°56'54", long 74°53'20" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Cape May City, Cape May County, NJ, Hydrologic Unit 02040302, on aluminum stand on concrete dock east of Yale Avenue at US Coast Guard Training Center Cape May, 0.7 mi east of east entrance to Cape May Canal, and 1.2 mi northwest of Cape May Inlet.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Annual maximum tide, water years 1965-85, 1992. Unpublished fragmentary gage-height record, September 1997 to May 2000. Continuous-record tide gage, June 2000 to current year.
GAGE -

Tide elevation, precipitation, air temperature, relative humidity, air pressure, and wind speed and direction recorder with telemetry and tidal crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 0.00 ft NAVD of 1988. For water years 1965-85 and 1992, datum of crest-stage gage at 0.00 ft NGVD of 1929. Prior to May 29, 2019 continuous-record tide gage located approximately 400 ft west on dock adjacent to Pritchard Avenue. Data published to NGVD of 1929 can be adjusted to NAVD of 1988 by subtracting 1.31 ft. Online annual tidal peaks have been adjusted to present datum.

EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum elevation, 6.47 ft Jan 23, 2016; minimum elevation, estimated at -5.6 ft, Mar 9, 2005.
