02095000 SOUTH BUFFALO CREEK NEAR GREENSBORO, NC
LOCATION - Lat 36°03'36", long 79°43'33" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Guilford County, NC, Hydrologic Unit 03030002, on left bank at upstream side of bridge on Secondary Road 3000, 3.8 mi east of Greensboro, 4.0 mi downstream from Bull Run Creek.
DRAINAGE AREA - 34 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WSP 972: 1928-40 (annual maximum discharge), 1928-33, 1935-37, 1939, (daily discharges). WSP 1303: Drainage area, 1934, 1938, 1940-42, monthly and yearly runoff. WSP 1383: 1931 (daily discharges), 1941 (annual maximum discharge).
Discharge for the period Jun. 17, 2019, to Mar. 24, 2020, was revised on Jul. 14, 2020, based on changes to the stage-discharge rating.
Discharge for the period March 22, 2021 to October 13, 2021 was revised in January, 2022 based on a 5 minute timing offset in the telemetered data.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - August 1928 to September 1958. August 1998 to current year. Prior to October 1952, published as "Buffalo Creek near Greensboro".
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 689.60 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988. Prior to September 1958, at datum of 696.2 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Satellite telemetry at streamgage.
REMARKS - Gage-height records are generally good. Discharge records are generally fair except for estimated discharges, which are poor.  Additional details on the accuracy of the records can be obtained by contacting the USGS South Atlantic Water Science Center at gs-w-nc_nwisweb_data_inquiries@usgs.gov.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge 10,000 ft³/s July 15, 1949, gage-height 11.54 ft, from rating curve extended above 2,000 ft³/s based on contracted-opening measurement, at site and datum then in use. Maximum instantaneous gage height, 16.40 ft, September 17, 2018. Minimum daily mean discharge, 0.42 cfs, August 4, 2002.
