03021520 FRENCH CREEK NEAR UNION CITY, PA
LOCATION - Lat 41°54'28", long 79°53'49" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Erie County, PA, Hydrologic Unit 05010004, on left bank at upstream side of bridge on State Highway 97, 0.4 mi upstream from South Branch French Creek, 0.9 mi downstream from Union City Dam, and 3.2 mi west of Union City.
DRAINAGE AREA - 221 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY -

WSP 743: Drainage area. WSP 1275: 1934, 1936-37 (M), 1939 (M), 1942 (M). WSP 1305: 1910-11, 1913, 1914 (M),1915-16, 1925, 1928. WDR PA-79-3: Drainage area.

Prior to December 7, 2022, the datum of gage was erroneously reported as 1191.16 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929.

SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1909 to September 1991; October 2005 to September 2009, discharge measurements only; 2010 to current year, continuous discharge record. Published as North Branch French Creek at Kimmeytown, May 1910 to September 1914, as "at Kimmeytown" October 1915 to September 1932, and as "at Carters Corners" (station 03021500) October 1932 to September 1971. Monthly discharge only for some periods published in WSP 1305.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 1,192.3 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988.   Prior to Dec 22, 1948, non-recording gage at site 4.5 miles upstream at datum 43.4 feet higher. October 1, 1971 to October 10, 1974, at present site, different datum. October 11, 1974 to November 4, 1977, at site 0.7 miles upstream at different datum. Satellite telemetry at station.   Prior to December 7, 2022, the datum of gage was erroneously published as 1,191.16 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929.
COOPERATION - Station established and maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Pittsburgh District.
REMARKS - Flood flow regulated since October 1971 by Union City Reservoir 0.9 miles upstream, serving as a retarding basin. Records are good except those for estimated discharge, which are poor.
