LOCATION - Lat 39°55'23", long 83°52'13" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Clark County, OH, Hydrologic Unit 05080001, on right bank 150 ft downstream from Rock Run, 300 ft downstream from bridge on Lower Valley Pike, 2 mi downstream from Buck Creek, 3 mi west of Springfield, and at mile 24.1.
DRAINAGE AREA - 490 mi².

SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - January 1904 to March 1906 (fragmentary), February 1914 to current year. Monthly discharge only for some periods, published in WSP 1305.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 881.09 ft (NAVD 1988), from survey in October 2014. Jan. 1, 1904 to Mar. 31, 1906, nonrecording gage at site 0.3 mi downstream at different datum. Feb. 1, 1914 to Feb. 29, 1924, nonrecording gage at site 1.8 mi upstream at datum 887.81 ft (1912 adjustment). Mar. 1, 1924 to July 31, 1925, nonrecording gage at site 300 ft upstream at same datum. Aug. 1, 1925 to Sept. 30, 2013 at current site at datum 881.42 ft (1912 adjustment).

REMARKS -

Discharge records good for the 2014 water year except for estimated records, which are poor. Oct. 1, 2014 to Dec. 8, 2014: discharge records good. Dec. 9, 2014 to Feb. 24, 2015: discharge records fair except for estimated records, which are poor. Feb. 25, 2015 to June 25, 2015: discharge records fair. June 26, 2015 to to Oct. 13, 2015: discharge records good. Oct. 14, 2015 to Aug. 21, 2016: discharge records good except for estimated daily discharges, which are poor. Aug. 22, 2016 to Nov. 7, 2016: discharge records fair. For the period Nov. 8, 2016 to Dec. 21, 2017, discharge records rated good. Dec. 22, 2017 to Oct. 23, 2018: discharge records good.

Some regulation by a reservoir, 8.3 mi upstream on a tributary, since 1972. Occasional low-flow regulation by power plant 2.3 mi upstream, daily flows are not affected appreciably.

EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood of Mar. 25, 1913, reached a stage of 16.9 ft, present datum; discharge, 55,400 ft³/s computed by Miami Conservancy District.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 30,500 ft³/s Jan. 21, 1959, gage height, 15.76 ft, from rating curve extended above 14,000 ft³/s on basis of slope-area and contracted opening measurements of peak flow; minimum daily discharge, 30 ft³/s Sept. 15, 1904.
