LOCATION - Lat 45°28'55", long 87°48'08" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in SE 1/4 SE 1/4 sec.30, T.36 N., R.28 E., Menominee County, MI, Hydrologic Unit 04030108, on left bank at powerplant at White Rapids Dam, 5.7 mi southwest of Banat, MI.
DRAINAGE AREA - 3,190 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - Prior to 2014, datum of gage was reported as 679.94 ft above NAVD of 1988. 2014 to Oct. 1, 2019, datum of gage was reported as 681.708 ft above NAVD of 1988. A static survey by USGS personnel in July 2023 found the current datum to be 679.65 ft above NAVD of 1988.  The datum back to Oct. 1, 2019 was revised.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1998 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 679.65 ft NAVD88.  Prior to the 2014 water year, the datum was noted as 679.94 ft.
REMARKS - Records are considered fair except for estimated discharges which are poor and other periods as noted. For records status prior to October 1, 2013, see remarks printed in annual water-data reports. Flow regulated by powerplants, by Michigamme Reservoir, capacity, 119,950 acre-ft, by Peavy Pond, capacity, 33,860 acre-ft, on the Michigamme River, and by many smaller reservoirs above station.
