05060500 RUSH RIVER AT AMENIA, ND
LOCATION - Lat 47°01'00", long 97°12'50" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in sec.24, T.141 N., R.52 W., Cass County, ND, Hydrologic Unit 09020204, on left bank on downstream side of bridge on State Highway 18 and 0.6 mi north of Amenia.
DRAINAGE AREA - 116 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY -

WSP 1728: Drainage area.

Discharges were revised for Feb. 14-April 7, 2020 on Aug. 1, 2020 based on information from flows at rapid deployment station upstream.

SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - DAILY DISCHARGE--August 1946 to current year.

DAILY GAGE HEIGHT--October 2000 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and V-notch sharp crested weir. The weir was damaged and has not been effective since December 19, 2011. Datum of gage is 931.25 ft above North American Vertical Datum 1988 (NAVD88, Surveyed-in as 941.25 ft by USGS and adjusted by 10.000 ft on Oct. 1, 2023 to avoid negative gage heights). Datum previously noted as 943 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum 1929 (NGVD29, from topographic map).

Previous locations and datums are as follows:

August 1946 to October 6, 1947, non-recording gage on railroad bridge 0.25 mi upstream, at datum 943 ft above NGVD29.

October 7, 1947 to September 30, 1956, non-recording gage on bridge 150 ft upstream of railroad bridge (0.25 mi upstream) at datum 943 ft above NGVD29.

October 1, 1956 to June 9, 1961, non-recording gage at site 150 ft upstream of railroad bridge (0.25 mi upstream) at datum 940 ft above NGVD29.

REMARKS - Accuracy of records for water years prior to 2014 are noted in the individual Annual Data Reports for those water years. For water years 2014 onward, records fair except for the 2021 water year, when record was poor and the 2022 water year, when record was good.  Estimated discharges are poor, unless otherwise noted.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum peak flow, 3,490 ft³/s, April 19, 1979, peak stage, 10.37 ft. Maximum peak stage, 12.15 ft, March 23, 1966, backwater from ice.  At current datum as of Oct. 1, 2023, historic peak gage heights would result in a value 10.00 ft. higher.
