LOCATION - Lat 45°15'21", long 100°50'33" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in SW 1/4 SE 1/4 sec.17, T.15 N., R.27 E., Dewey County, SD, Hydrologic Unit 10130306, on left bank 30 ft downstream from bridge, 2.4 mi southeast of Whitehorse, 8.8 mi downstream from Little Moreau River, and 16.3 mi southeast of Timber Lake, SD.
DRAINAGE AREA - 4,889 mi² of which 17 mi² probably is noncontributing.
REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR SD-78-1: 1977. WDR SD-10-1: Drainage area.

Datum of the gage is 1,663.72 feet above North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD88) and 1,661.48 feet above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929 (NGVD29).

REMARKS - Accuracy of records for water years prior to 2014 are noted in the individual Annual Data Reports for those water years. For water years 2014 onward, records good except those for Oct. 1, 2013 to Sept. 30, 2014, Mar. 11-14, 2016, and Sept. 1 to Oct. 4, 2017, which are fair and those for estimated discharges, which are poor .  Satellite data-collection platform at station.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood of June 1953 reached a stage of about 26.2 ft. Flood in Mar. 1947 was probably higher.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Minimum daily discharge, 0.00 ft³/s, Jan. 12, 1955, no flow at times in most years.
