07226500 UTE CREEK NEAR LOGAN, NM
LOCATION - Lat 35°26'18.70", long 103°31'32.86" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Harding County, NM, Hydrologic Unit 11080007, on right bank 1.9 mi downstream from Alamosa Creek, 4.5 mi upstream from State Road 155, 4.7 mi upstream from high-water line of Ute Reservoir, 8.2 mi northwest of Logan, and at mile 10.0.
DRAINAGE AREA - 1,748 mi² of which 617 mi² probably is noncontributing.
REVISIONS HISTORY - WSP 1281: 1942-48, 1950, 1951(P). WDR NM-81-1: 1965(P), 1967-68(M), 1969(P), 1971(M), 1972, 1975(M), 1977, 1979. The peak gage height and streamflow for water year 2017 were revised on Apr. 24, 2020 because gage heights previously published for the upper extent of high-flow event on Nov. 6, 2016 were found to erroneously underrate the actual magnitude of the event. Drainage area was revised to a more accurate value on Aug. 6, 2020. See also PERIOD OF RECORD.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - January 1912 to May 1914 (gage heights and discharge measurements only), January 1942 to June 2013, October 2014 to current. Records of discharge for August 1904 to June 1906 and April 1909 to December 1911, published in WSP 307, are unreliable and should not be used.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder with satellite telemetry. Elevation of gage is 3,810.19 ft above NGVD of 1929. Prior to June 9, 2010 gage datum was 3,820 ft above NGVD of 1929, from topographic map. See WSP 2121 for history of changes prior to Oct. 1, 1964.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood of May 1, 1914, reached a stage of 22.95 ft at site and datum then in use. Another major flood reached a stage of 16.0 ft, 1942 datum, sometime in 1941, from information furnished by Bureau of Reclamation; discharge, about 70,000 ft³/s.
