LOCATION - Lat 34°45'17", long 97°15'04" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in NE 1/4 SE 1/4 sec.01, T.3 N., R.1 W., Garvin County, OK, Hydrologic Unit 11130303, on downstream right bank near end of bridge on U.S. Highway 77, 2.0 mi northwest of Pauls Valley, 6.0 mi downstream from Owl Creek, 7.0 mi upstream from Washington Creek, and at mile 146.5.
DRAINAGE AREA - 5,306 mi² of which 12 mi² probably is noncontributing. from automated delineation using 10-meter National Elevation Dataset digital elevation model data dated 10/01/2006 and Watershed Boundary Dataset dated 10/01/2006, using Albers Equal-Area Projection, North American Datum 1983.
REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR 2012: Drainage area.
PERIOD OF RECORD - May to December 1899 (gage heights only), October 1937 to current year. Monthly discharge only for some periods, published in WSP 1311. Published as "at Pauls Valley, Indian Territory" in 1899.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 849.531 feet above NAVD of 1988 determined by GNSS Level II Survey using Alltera network with RTK Trimble R-12i tied to RM-12 by USGS personnel on 2/23/2023. Prior to 2/23/2023 the datum of the gage was 849.61 ft above NGVD of 1929. During 1899, nonrecording gage at site 9 mi downstream, at different datum. Mar. 29, 1938, to Jan. 25, 1939, nonrecording gage and Jan. 26, 1939, to Oct. 6, 1948, water-stage recorder at site 0.7 mi upstream, at datum 1.53 ft higher. Mar. 11, 1975, to Jan. 26, 1981, water-stage recorder at site 200 ft upstream, and at same datum. From Jan 26, 1981 to January 18, 2012, gage datum was 5.00 ft higher.

Some diversion for irrigation upstream from station. Some regulation since March 1959, by Fort Cobb Reservoir (station 07325900); since February 1961, by Foss Reservoir (station 07324300); and by numerous flood-retarding structures.

EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum gage height for period of record, 29.88 ft, May 11, 1950.  Maximum discharge, 43,600 cfs, May 29, 1987. No flow at times. Minimum gage height, 4.12 ft, multiple instances, 2022.
