08069500 West Fork San Jacinto River near Humble, TX
LOCATION - Lat 30°01'37", long 95°15'28" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Harris County, TX, Hydrologic Unit 12040101, near right bank on downstream side of downstream service road bridge on U.S. Highway 59, 970 ft upstream from Texas and New Orleans Railroad Company bridge, 0.5 mi downstream from Spring Creek, and 2.5 mi north of Humble.
DRAINAGE AREA - 1,741 mi².

SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Oct. 1928 to Sept. 1954 (daily mean discharge), Oct. 1 1954 to Sept. 30, 1989 (gage height), May 2010 to May 2018 (gage height), May 2018 to current year (daily mean discharge). Annual maximum and minimum gage heights only for Oct. 1954 to Sept. 1966 (published with station 08072000 Lake Houston nr Sheldon). Published as San Jacinto River near Humble prior to 1938.
GAGE - Water-stage and water-velocity recorder. Datum of gage is NAVD 1988. Oct. 23, 1928 to July 16, 1933, chain gage at site 3,000 ft downstream, datum of gage 30.53 ft above NGVD 1929. July 17, 1933 to March 5, 1939, chain gage at present site and datum of gage 30.53 ft above NGVD 1929. March 6, 1939 to Sept. 30, 1989, datum of gage 30.53 ft above NGVD 1929. Satellite telemeter at station.
REMARKS - Station discontinued as a daily streamflow station on Sept. 30, 1954, due to backwater from storage in Lake Houston. Since the completion of Lake Conroe in 1973, at least 10% of contributing drainage area has been regulated. Some records listed in the "Period of Record" for surface water and water quality may not be available electronically.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum stage since at least 1865, occurred on Sept. 1900, May 31, 1929, and Nov. 25, 26, 1940, and all reached about 32.7 ft (datum then in use), from information by local resident.
AVERAGE DISCHARGE FOR PERIOD PRIOR TO REGULATION - 26 years (water years 1929-1954), 1,097 ft³/s (794,800 acre-ft/year).
