LOCATION - Lat 37°49'11", long 107°39'47" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in SW 1/4 SW 1/4 sec.08, T.41 N., R.7 W., San Juan County, CO, Hydrologic Unit 14080104, on left bank at abandoned railroad crossing Cement Creek, 0.1 mi north of Silverton, and 0.8 mi upstream from mouth.
DRAINAGE AREA - 20.1 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1991 to September 1993, October 1994 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder with satellite telemetry and crest-stage gage. Elevation of gage is 9,380 ft above NGVD of 1929, from topographic map.
REMARKS - Water year 2014; records fair except for estimated daily discharges, which are poor. Water year 2015; records fair except for estimated daily discharges, which are poor. EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - A major flood occurred Oct. 5, 1911. A more recent flood occurred June 6, 1978, when Lake Emma (6.5 mi northeast of Silverton) was undermined by mining operations, and released a large quantity of water into the headwaters of Cement Creek. Discharge not determined.
