LOCATION - Lat 37°11'24", long 113°46'05" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in NE 1/4 NW 1/4 SW 1/4 sec.28, T.41 S., R.17 W., Washington County, UT, Hydrologic Unit 15010008, On left bank 0.2 mi downstream of historic Winsor Dam, 5.2 mi downstream of Gunlock Reservoir, and 7.5 mi northwest of Santa Clara. Gage is located on the Shivwits Band of the Paiute Indian Tribe of Utah Reservation.
DRAINAGE AREA - 378 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - Prior to February 17, 2021 the datum of the gage was 3,230 ft above NGVD of 1988, from topographic map.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - December 1971 to September 2001, October 2014 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 3,194.80 ft. above NAVD of 1988 from a Level II GNSS survey conducted on February 17, 2021. Prior to Sep 25, 2014, at several sites within 0.1 mi upstream and downstream at different datums.
REMARKS - Records generally fair except for flows over 200 ft³/s and estimated discharges which are fair to poor.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 5,850 ft³/s, flood of 1938 (exact date unknown), gage height 7.90 ft, datum then in use, from slope-area measurement.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 3,460 ft³/s, Mar 12, 1995, gage height 20.17 ft. datum then in use, from rating curve extended above 1,300 ft³/s on basis of slope-are measurement; no flow at times, several years. Maximum gage height 24.77 ft, Mar 15, 2023.
