LOCATION - Lat 35°50'58", long 116°13'51" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in SE 1/4 NW 1/4 sec.09, T.20 N., R.7 E., Inyo County, CA, Hydrologic Unit 18090202, on right bank, 90 ft upstream from Old Spanish Trail Road, and 0.2 mi west of Tecopa.
DRAINAGE AREA - 3,090 mi². much of which is noncontributing.
REVISIONS HISTORY - REVISIONS HISTORY: Elevation of gage from beginning of record to 07/18/2016 was 1310 ft and was revised on 07/18/2016, based on Single-base OPUS-S level 3 survey. The maximum discharge for water year 2011 was revised on Mar. 10, 2020, based on changes to the stage-discharge rating. The maximum discharge for water year 1990 was revised on June 29, 2021, based on typographical error causing lower discharge peak to be published. Discharge measurement gage height was revised on Jan. 22, 2024, for Mar 3, 1983 (from 28.42 ft to 11.90 ft), and Aug. 18, 1983 (from 32.52 ft to 16.00 ft), based on timing of the change to gage datum. 
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Oct. 1961 to Aug. 1983, 1990 miscellaneous discharge, Oct. 1991 to Sep. 1995, 1998 miscellaneous discharge, Jan. 1999 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and culvert control. Elevation of gage is 1,292.76 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988, from level 3 GPS survey. Prior to Oct. 16, 1991, at datum 16.52 ft higher.
REMARKS - Records poor.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 10,600 ft³/s, Aug. 19, 1983, determined from culvert computations and flow over road, gage height, 16.00 ft, datum then in use; no flow some days some years.
