LOCATION - Lat 34°35'19", long 120°24'27" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in sec.24, T.6 N., R.34 W., Santa Barbara County, CA, Hydrologic Unit 18060010, in Canada de Salsipuedes Grant, on right bank at highway bridge on Jalama Road, 0.4 mi downstream from El Jaro Creek, and 4.4 mi southeast of Lompoc.
DRAINAGE AREA - 47.1 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WSP 2128: Drainage area.
PERIOD OF RECORD - January 1941 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and concrete low-water control. Elevation of gage is 220 ft above NGVD of 1929, from topographic map. Prior to Oct. 1, 2004, at datum 1 ft higher at same site.
REMARKS - Records poor. Poor rating is due to accuracy and precision limitations at very low flow conditions, beaver activity, and continuing accumulations of debris in the low flow control. No regulation upstream from station. Small diversions for irrigation upstream from station. See schematic diagram of Santa Ynez River Basin available from the California Water Science Center.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 11,400 ft³/s, Mar. 15, 1952, gage height, 20.80 ft; no flow at times in some years.
