LOCATION - Lat 43°41'23", long 114°23'05" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in NW 1/4 SW 1/4 NW 1/4 sec.12, T.4 N., R.17 E., Blaine County, ID, Hydrologic Unit 17040221, Griffin Butte quad., Sawtooth National Forest, 0.8 mi. upstream from it's confluence with the Big Wood River.
DRAINAGE AREA - 94.3 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - May 1920 to September 1921 (seasonal records only). 1973, 1975-78, 1980, 1987-88, 2001-05, 2008-10 (discharge measurements only). January 2011 to current year.
GAGE - Water stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Elevation of gage datum is arbitrary. May 1920 to Sept. 1921, non-recording gage at different site and datum.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 1,660 ft³/s May 7, 2017, gage height 13.68 ft; minimum discharge, 9.29 ft³/s Jan. 29, 2021, gage height 9.08 ft.
WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Continuous water temperature data were collected from May 13 to Sept. 24, 2014.
REMARKS - Numerical uncertainty is not currently computed for time-series water-quality records but qualitative ratings are provided based on professional judgment. The temperature sensor was installed as part of a baseline study on water-quality and biological conditions on May 13, 2014 and removed indefinitely on Sept. 24, 2014. 100% of the daily values will be reported between May 14 and Sept. 23, 2014. No daily values are estimated.
