LOCATION - Lat 45°07'13", long 67°16'28" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Washington County, ME, Hydrologic Unit 01050001, in Calais, on Charlotte Road, about 2.25 mi south of U.S. Route 1. Owner: U.S. Government (Moosehorn National Wildlife Refuge).
GROUNDWATER RECORDS
WELL CHARACTERISTICS - Depth 150 ft. Upper casing diameter 6 in; top of first opening 21 ft, bottom of last opening 150 ft. Drilled artesian observation well.
DATUM - Land-surface datum is 132.56 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988. Measuring point: Top of steel casing between file marks after extension, 5.0 ft above land-surface datum, Jul. 11, 2007 to Aug. 13, 2019; Top of steel casing between file marks, 4.98 ft above land-surface datum, Aug. 13, 2019 to present. Measuring point is 5.4 ft above the general land surface.
PERIOD OF RECORD - September 1980 to current year. Prior to Dec. 1999, monthly measurements were published.
GAGE - Electronic water-level recorder.
REMARKS - Water levels affected by earth tides. Gaps in record indicate missing data. Aquifer: Bedrock of Devonian age.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Highest daily water level, -1.78 ft above land surface datum, Dec. 15, 2019. Prior to Aug. 2, 2006, highest water level, overflowed, at land-surface datum, in 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2005, and 2006; lowest daily water level, 6.31 ft below land-surface datum, Feb. 10, 2002.
