LOCATION - Lat 18°00'58.39", long 66°23'22.58" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Coamo Municipio, PR, Hydrologic Unit 21010004, on left bank, 5.05 mi (8.13 km) southwest of Coamo town Church, 3.8 mi (6.11 km) west Río Jueyes School, and 2.75 mi (4.40 km) south from Santaella School left of Las Marías on State Road 14.
DRAINAGE AREA - 66.6 mi². (172.5 km2).
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - November 2004 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder, satellite and radio telemetry at station. Elevation of gage is above National Geodetic Vertical Datum (NGVD) of 1929, feet.
COOPERATION - Puerto Rico Electrical Power Authority (PREPA).
REMARKS - Lago Coamo was completed in 1914 by Puerto Rico Irrigation Service. It is an Ambursen type concrete dam 65 ft (19.8 m) in height with a maximum storage capacity of 2,827 acre-ft (3.46 hm3), but accumulated sediments has reduced its capacity to about 80 acre-ft (0.097 hm3) (estimated). Actually the dam is been dredge to recover some 800 acre-ft (0.978 hm3) to be used for domestic water supply.
