03229500 BIG WALNUT CREEK AT REES OH
LOCATION - Lat 39°51'24", long 82°57'26" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Franklin County, OH, Hydrologic Unit 05060001, on right bank at downstream side of bridge on Reese Road, 0.5 mi southwest of Reese, 4.2 mi downstream from Alum Creek, and 10.5 mi upstream from mouth at the Scioto R.
DRAINAGE AREA - 544 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WSP 1053: 1929, 1933(M), 1945. WSP 1305: 1923(M), 1925-26(M).
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - August 1921 to December 1935, October 1938 to current year. Monthly discharge only for some periods, published in WSP 1305.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 697.62 ft (NAVD 1988). Datum of gage was 698.20 ft (NGVD 1929). Aug. 18, 1921-Oct. 23, 1927, nonrecording gage at site 0.3 mi upstream at datum 2.00 ft higher prior to Oct. 1, 1924, at present datum thereafter.
REMARKS -

Discharge records good for the 2014 water year except for estimated records, which are poor. Oct. 1, 2014 to Dec. 8, 2014: discharge records good. Dec. 9, 2014 to Oct. 13, 2015: discharge records fair except for estimated records, which are poor. Oct. 14, 2015 to Dec. 17, 2015: discharge records good. Dec. 17, 2015 to Oct. 18, 2016: discharge records fair except for estimated daily values, which are poor. Oct. 19, 2016 to Mar. 1, 2017: dicharge records fair except for estimated discharge records, which are poor. Mar. 2, 2017 to July 10, 2017: discharge records fair. July 11, 217 to July 13, 2017: discharge records good. July 14, 2017 to Sept. 6, 2017: discharge records fair except for estimated discharge records, which are poor. Sept. 7, 2017 to Nov. 1, 2017: discharge records good. Nov. 2, 2017 to Dec. 25, 2017: discharge records fair. Dec. 26, 2017 to Apr. 6, 2018: discharge records fair except for estimated discharge records, which are poor. Apr. 7, 2018 to June 5, 2018: discharge records good. June 6, 2018 to July 31, 2018: discharge records good. Aug. 1, 2018 to Sept. 30, 2018: discharge records good.

Beginning Sept. 1954, flow regulated by Hoover Reservoir upstream from station. Since Aug. 1973, flow regulated by Alum Creek Lake upstream from station. Small diversions from Alum Creek do not affect flow appreciably. Beginning on Oct. 1, 1974, flow diverted from river by Hap Cremean Water Plant upstream from station and returned as treated wastewater to Scioto River. Prior to the 2014 water year, adjustments were reported for monthly and annual streamflows and long-term mean streamflows were reported as diversion-adjusted values. Beginning with the 2014 water year, published streamflows are no longer adjusted for diversion. Average diversions in ft³/s for the following water years are in the table below:

EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 59,800 ft³/s Jan. 22, 1959, gage height, 22.03 ft (from highwater mark in well), from rating curve extended above 13,000 ft³/s on basis of contracted-opening measurement of peak flow; minimum, 5 ft³/s Sept. 4, 5, 10-12, 1925; minimum daily since 1956, 9.4 ft³/s Sept. 13, 1964.
