Retransmission, forecasts and summary by the National Weather Service |
In the past, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS)
has used the datum that was used in the construction of Lake
Brownwood, which is known as the "Reservoir Datum", for
reporting reservoir stage for Lake Brownwood (Station No. 08143000)
to maintain continuity with the historical record. The
"Reservoir Datum" is 0.50 ft higher than National
Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929 (NGVD 1929). The elevation of the
crest of the spillway is 1424.6 ft above MSL (NGVD 1929) or 1425.1
ft above "Reservoir Datum". Current USGS policy is to record and publish all reservoir elevations to sea level. As of Feb 23, 1999 all records published for Lake Brownwood are based on National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929 and include the remark "prior to Feb 1999, non-recording gages at same site at datum 0.50 ft higher." On May 20, 2022, datum of the gage was changed to 0.00 ft. above NAVD88 Should you need any further information or clarification, feel free to contact the USGS Water Science Center, San Angelo, TX (325) 944-4600. |
