LOCATION - Lat 47°14'08", long 122°14'10" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in SW 1/4 NE 1/4 sec.12, T.20 N., R.4 E., Pierce County, WA, Hydrologic Unit 17110014,

on right-bank and downstream side of 24th Street East bridge, 2.3 mi north of Sumner, and at mile 3.4.

DRAINAGE AREA - 479 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - June 2016 to current year (stage only).
GAGE - Water stage recorder. Datum of gage is NGVD of 1929 and is 3.52 ft above NAVD of 1988.
REMARKS - Since November 1911, White River Flume (station 12098920) has diverted water from left bank 20.9 mi upstream for storage in, and maintenance of, Lake Tapps (station 12101000). Water is returned to White River 0.2 mi upstream via the Lake Tapps Diversion (station 12101100). Power development at White River Powerplant at Dieringer was discontinued in 2004. Since 1942, flow regulated by Mud Mountain Lake (station 12098000) for flood control. U.S. Geological Survey satellite telemeter at station.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum elevation, 52.60 ft, Feb. 6, 2020; minimum elevation, 40.61 ft, Oct. 4, 2016.

INSTRUMENTATION - Multiparameter water quality sonde interfaced with a Data Collection Platform/Electronic Datalogger, with 15-min recording interval, since June 2016. Turbidity sensor is a 6136 sensor installed on a YSI 6920 V2-2 sonde.
