Station gage imageSTATION.--01543500 SINNEMAHONING CREEK AT SINNEMAHONING, PA
LOCATION.--Lat 41`19'02", long 78`06'12", Cameron County, Hydrologic Unit 02050202, on left bank 0.2 mi upstream from Grove Run, and 0.7 mi upstream from Penn Central Railroad bridge at Sinnemahoning.
DRAINAGE AREA.--685 square miles.
PERIOD OF RECORD.--July 1938 to current year. Prior to October 1938 monthly discharge only, published in WSP 1302.
GAGE.--Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 768.79 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988. Prior to October 3, 2023, the datum of gage was reported as 769.36 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Satellite telemetry at station.
COOPERATION.--Funding for the operation of this station is provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and the U.S. Geological Survey.
GAGE HEIGHTS OF IMPORTANCE.-
Supplied by USGS: Maximum recordable gage height (stage sensor operational limit) - 29.3 ft; Data transmitter operational limit - 29.3 ft;
Supplied by NWS: Action stage-13 ft: Flood stage-17 ft, the right, or south bank overflows across from the mouth of the First Fork of the Sinnemahoning; Moderate flood stage-19 ft, several homes on the right, or south bank across from the mouth are affected; water level approaches Route 120 near mouth of the First Fork; Major flood stage-21 ft, both banks overflow; a number of homes on both banks are affected; Route 120 is inundated.
This station managed by the PAWSC Williamsport Field Office.
