STATION.--03073000 SOUTH FORK TENMILE CREEK AT JEFFERSON, PA
LOCATION.--Lat 39`55'23", long 80`04'22", Greene County, Hydrologic Unit 05020005, on right bank at downstream side of bridge on State Highway 188, 1 mi southwest of Jefferson, and 3.1 mi downstream from Ruff Creek.
DRAINAGE AREA.--180 square miles.
PERIOD OF RECORD.--October 1931 to September 1995, October 2010 to current year. Monthly discharge only for October 1931, published in WSP 1305.
GAGE.--Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 849.7 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988. October 1938 to September 1995, datum of gage was 2.54 ft higher. Prior to October 1938, non-recording gage at same site and datum. Prior to January 2, 2024, the datum of gage was reported as 850 ft above the National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Satellite telemetry at station.
COOPERATION.--Station established and maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
REMARKS.--Slight diversion into basin during winter months from Monongahela River for Waynesburg water supply. Some regulation from reservoirs and pumpage above station.
GAGE HEIGHTS OF IMPORTANCE.-
Supplied by NWS: Action stage-13.5 ft; Flood stage-17 ft; Moderate flood stage-21 ft; Major flood stage-23 ft.
