LOCATION.--Lat 48° 55'47", long 116° 39'22" (NAD27), in NE1/4 SE1/4 NE1/4 sec.1, T.64 N., R.3 W., Boundary County, Shorty Peak quad., Hydrologic Unit 17010104, 200 ft downstream of diversion dam, 1,500 ft downstream from Cutoff Peak road bridge, 5 mi upstream from Smith Creek Falls, and 11 mi southwest of Porthill.

DRAINAGE AREA.--58.8 mi2.

PERIOD OF RECORD.--October 1989 to October 1992 (discontinued). May 1928 to November 1960, water years 1962-64, 1965-67, annual maximums, published as "Smith Creek near Porthill", (site 12321000) at site 6 mi downstream, not equivalent because of tributary and powerplant inflow between sites.

GAGE.--Water-stage recorder. Elevation of gage is 3,460 ft above NGVD of 1929, from topographic map.

REMARKS.--Flow regulated by hydropower diversion dam.

EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD.--Maximum discharge, 1,850 ft3/s Nov. 25, 1990, gage height, 9.61 ft, from rating curve extended above 600 ft3/s; minimum daily discharge, 7.8 ft3/s Sept. 3, 1992.
